Dr. Harold Taylor Yates was born in Front Royal, Virginia in 1915. He completed his undergraduate work and his medical degree at the University of Virginia, graduating from UVA Medical School in 1941 and serving an internship at the University of Virginia Hospital before being commissioned into the Navy as a physician for the Second World War. After the war Yates settled in the Washington area and built a long Alexandria pediatric practice that operated from the late 1940s through the 1980s, treating multiple generations of Alexandria children. He lived across the river in Arlington, Virginia.
He died of a heart ailment at George Washington University Hospital on May 19, 1995, at the age of 80.
