Stonegate is a mid-century residential community in West End Alexandria, on the eastern side of Beauregard Street near the Mark Center / I-395 cluster. The community is part of the broader twentieth-century residential development pattern that filled in the Beauregard / North Quaker Lane / Seminary Road triangle as the federal workforce expanded into West End Alexandria in parallel with the buildup of the Pentagon (completed 1943) and the Mark Center / BRAC-133 federal-office campus that opened in 2011 a half-mile north.

Stonegate’s specific developer of record, original construction year, and ownership-transition history have not been documented against authoritative primary sources for this entry. The community is treated here at stub grade — a placeholder cross-reference for the West End mid-century residential thread — until a future deepening pass against Alexandria Library Special Collections city directories, the City of Alexandria’s building-permit archive, and contemporary news coverage in the Alexandria Gazette and Alexandria Times surfaces enough citation-grade material to support a full entry. The “Stonegate” name is shared with at least two other residential developments in the Washington metropolitan area — one on the Richmond Highway Place Richmond Highway ~8,656-acre U.S. Army installation along Richmond Highway in Fairfax County, established 1917 as Camp A.A. Humphreys, renamed Fort Humphreys 1922, renamed Fort Belvoir 1935 in … installation parcel (military housing), and one in the Mt. Vernon / Beacon Hill corridor of southern Fairfax County. This entry covers the West End Alexandria community off Beauregard Street; the other Stonegate developments are out of scope here.
